[b]This is a moniker of male breakcore/IDM/rave-producer (born 1972). For world-famous disco singer, see [a=Donna Summer] (1948–2012)[/b] [a=Jason Forrest] started releasing music under the name [i]Donna Summer[/i] in 2002, with full-length CD-release on Japanese label [l=Omeko] and 7” at famous [l=Broklyn Beats]. Since then he released records under this name in US, Europe, UK, Japan and played live all over the world. Donna Summer was featured in periodicals like [l=Wire Magazine], [l=XLR8R], [l=Muzik Magazine], [l=Go Mag], [l=De:Bug Magazine], [url=http://www.discogs.com/label/333369]Vice[/url], Crash, The Village Voice, Grooves. In 2004 Jason Forrest basically dropped this moniker and started releasing music under his full name. Occasionally he would still pop up as Donna Summer on some small-run releases – a digital [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/1043339]1-tracker[/url] in famous Tu M'p3 series or [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/406010] 7” self-split[/url] at Danish label Ljud in 2005 (featuring [a=Goodiepal]). Also he kept hosting a [url=http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/su]radio show at WMFU[/url] under the same name during this period. Finally, in December 2007 he released 1st part of his [r=1363139] album on [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/1173219]12"[/url] under the name '[b]DJ[/b] Donna Summer', using it actively again ever since. Disco diva reference is not purely humorous. Jason Forrest/DonnaSummer heavily sampled such musicians as Laurie Anderson, The Who, Supertramp, Steely Dan, Joe Jackson, Elton John, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Pat Benatar, etc – musically he appears to be genuinely interested in re-contextualizing pop culture from the past for modern banging dancefloors.
