DJ Rap

DJ & producer, born 7 December 1968 in Singapore. DJ Rap has been voted the no.1 female DJ in the world by Shejay. She owns, records for, runs and A&Rs two labels, [l2202] (opened in 1994), and Improper Talent. While running her labels, she is also a producer, recording artist, and an actor. Though she is much respected on the Drum & Bass scene, she is not content to just sit in the studio and direct, so she taught herself to engineer and produce; often while collaborating with other artists. Shortly after the opening of [l2202], Saverio received attention from Sony and was soon signed to them along with the likes of Grooverider and Leftfield. On the release of 'Learning Curve', Rolling Stone Magazine gave her three and a half stars, stating "this is the record Madonna wanted to make". 'Learning Curve' went on to sell over 1,000,000 units bringing her total sales to over 3,000,000 worldwide; which includes her compilation sales from releases such as Journeys By DJ, Propa Classics Vol. 1 & 2, Brave New World, Armani Exchange & Touching Bass, Bulletproof, Up All Night, which have all crossed many genres and has become DJ Rap's trademark. After attending her first rave in Wallace Road, Hackney, she began DJing for pirate station Rave FM after being introduced by [a=Cool Hand Flex]. After her debut release with Jeff B under the name Ambience, she switched to play on Fantasy FM, originally co-hosting a show with [a=Stacey Tough]. She was the resident DJ for Telepathy & at the Astoria. She was also briefly engaged to MC MC, and also dated Jay Pender (co-promoter of World Dance & A.W.O.L.).
