Anne Rogers

English actress, dancer and singer. Born 29 July 1933, Liverpool. She began her stage career at the age of 15. At 17, she had a bit part in a new stage musical original London production of [I]The Boy Friend[/I], when, just hours before it was due to receive its first performance, the leading lady was taken ill. There were no understudies. Rogers had been watching rehearsals and when the director asked if anyone could sing a 'Top C', she raised her hand and say she could. The show opened the next night with Rogers in the female lead of Polly Browne. She became known for the for part and the song from the show ‘I Could Be Happy With You’. She went on to play the show for nearly four years. She appeared on television shows and films, both in the US and UK. She was married to Michael (Mike) Hall, son of bandleader [a419463].
