Orchestra Sinfonica Di Milano Giuseppe Verdi

The Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano "Giuseppe Verdi" (know also with the nickname: "La Verdi") is an independent Italian orchestra based in Milan, Italy, founded in 1993 by [a=Vladimir Delman]. Since 1999 the orchestra's main residence has been the renovated [l=Auditorium di Milano] "Fondazione Cariplo", which is considered one of the best concert halls in Italy. The first director of music was [a=Riccardo Chailly] (1999–2005, Honorary Director since); followed by [url=/artist/4926399]Zhang Xian[/url] (2006–2009). The director of music since 2018 is [a=Claus Peter Flor]. Conductor laureates have been: [a=Carlo Maria Giulini] (until 2005), Rudolf Bashai (2006–2009). The repertoire of "La Verdi" ranges from Bach to contemporary composers, with particular attention to the composer of the Nineteenth Century, particularly Mahler and Shostakovich. The orchestra has released more than 40 CDs on labels such as [l=Decca], [l=Stradivarius] and [l=Arts (3)], including the complete symphonies of Shostakovich under the baton of [a=Oleg Caetani].
