DJ El Nino

DJ El Niño, affectionately known as "El Niño," is a DJ like no other, not only because of his unique skills and trajectory but also because of his tremendous knowledge of the world's catalog of music. His peers and fans sometimes refer to him as "The Human Music Archive." Niño was raised in the Bronx by his parents, from the Dominican Republic, a country known for its cultural foothold of hot Latin sounds. True to his Aquarius sign, he's recognized as an intellectually independent and creative individual. El Niño discovered his love and connection with music very early. When asked to reflect on the moment, he knew music was his path; Niño shares only one memorable moment. "When I first heard the song "Planet Rock" by Africa Bambaataa, I knew I wanted to be involved with music.", Niño shares. As a kid, music played a significant part in his life. His vast exposure to different genres and sounds allowed him to embrace other cultures, which was instrumental in harvesting an eclectic source of influences. This wide variety included talents such as Todd Terry, DJ Nelson, Louie Vega, Steely & Clevie, and many others along the cultural spectrum. In 1995 he bought his first turntables to practice at home and, by 1997, had earned the opportunity to DJ at a local club, where he made his professional debut. This first opportunity served as a cornerstone to a solid professional foundation and evolved into a new lifestyle he set out to build on as his legacy. DJ El Niño became synonymous with popular venues and events through appearances and unforgettable performances. He has continually leveraged the cultural shifts of social media to enhance his name and brand. Still, he attributes his most potent marketing tools as his mixes, remixes, live performances, and word of mouth. From 1999-2001 El Niño worked at a local Connecticut radio station called Galaxia 1380 AM introducing his name to a broader audience. Known to be one of the leading forces driving and promoting a relatively new genre at that time called "Reggaeton." It wasn't long before "DJ El Niño" became a household name. El Niño started marketing and promoting his mixtapes in Connecticut. As interest grew, his mixtapes became popular in the streets of New York City and not long after in the United States, which played a significant role in his platform's outreach to a greater audience. These achievements impacted his success by launching his name into international markets. His mixtapes were doing so well that they caught the attention of a major Japanese distributor who took his Mixtapes to Asia and Europe. Alongside musicianship, El Niño's positive attitude and resilience have led him to perform at some of the world's top venues, from Fire Night Club in London, England, to SOBs in New York City, Sevilla Nightclub in San Diego, CA, and Premier in Atlantic City, NJ. After touring all over the United States and internationally, he resided at Connecticut's #1 Club, Vandome. Establishing residency in 2009, El Niño has been responsible for delivering countless parties like the famous Project X Party. Parties like these have become iconic and nothing short of epic, creating memorable moments for hundreds of partygoers week after week. DJ El Niño also experienced the road as the tour DJ for Salsa/Urban Artist Huey Dunbar (DLG) from 2006 to 2008.
