Barbora Piešová

Barbora Piešová (born June 26, 2000, Poruba, Slovakia) is a Slovak singer. She started with singing when she was nine and won various local awards and singing competitions as a teenager. Piešová first rose to fame as the winner of the sixth season of a television singing competition Česko Slovenská SuperStar (Czechoslovak version of Pop Idol), which was broadcast in spring 2020 by Slovak televison TV Markíza and Czech televison TV Nova. Following her win, she signed a contract with Warner Music Czech Republic, and released a compilation album of all the songs she performed in SuperStar through the label in June 2020. Her debut single "Dážď" (Rain) came out in the same month. Barbora's second single "Vesmír" (Universe) was released in October, three days before the release of her debut album "Som flegmatik, ale optimista" (I'm a phlegmatic, but an optimist). Multiple musicians were featured on the record, such as singer and multiinstrumentalist Marián Čekovský, rap group Moja Reč, fellow SuperStar finalist Michal Šafrata or her sister Lenka Piešová, who has a successful music career on her own. All songs on the album except one are in Slovak language. In 2021, Piešová became a contestant on a singing entertainment program Tvoja Tvár Znie Povedome (Your Face Sound Familiar), where participants perform as different music artists every week. She placed third in the contest.
