Peter Cser

Hungarian classical bass vocalist, born August 4 1963, Budapest. He completed his studies at the vocal faculty of the Franz Liszt Music College and then graduated from the Lieder, oratorio, and opera faculty of the Graz College of Music and the Performing Arts (Graz Musikhochschule). His teachers were Júlia Biklfalvy, Zsolt Bende, Ks. Lilian Sukis, Christian Pöppelreiter and Gerhard Zeller. Between 1993 and 1997, Péter Cser was a guest soloist at the Graz Opera House. He joined the Miskolc National Theatre in 1996 and the Debrecen Csokonai Theatre in 1999. Besides regular appearances in Hungary in opera and oratorio, he has sung also in many European countries, including Germany, Finland, Russia, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and in the former Czechoslovakia, as well as in Japan and the USA. He is a welcome guest at distinguished festivals from Salzburg to Paris, from Lucerne to Berlin. Major rôles created by Péter Cser include Noah (Benjamin Britten), Sarastro, Figaro and Don Giovanni (W.A. Mozart) and Colline (Puccini). He also performs regularly with the Tomkins Choir (Budapest), the Cantus Corvinus and the Nova Ensemble in Vienna.
