Orkiestra Klezmerska Teatru Sejneńskiego

The Klezmer Orchestra of the Sejneński Theater, led for more than 20 years by Wojciech Szroeder, consists of young people associated with the Foundation and Center "Borderland - of Arts, Cultures, Nations" in Sejny. Both of these institutions in their educational and artistic work refer to the multicultural heritage of Central and Eastern Europe. The orchestra was created while working on the theatrical staging of Szymon An-ski's The Dybbuk. The premiere of the performance took place in 1996. Since then, the fascinating adventure of young people from the borderlands of Sejny with klezmer music has been going on. Today it is the next generation of Sejny musicians. Many young people in Sejny have already had the opportunity to initiate the secrets of Klezmer music, new and younger ones are constantly coming in, taking the place of colleagues leaving their adult lives. The band's instrumentation and thus its sound are also changing. Klezmer music is present in Sejny in the White Synagogue almost every day. Summer concerts gather a wide audience and have already entered the landscape of Sejny cultural events. The Klezmer Orchestra for young people from Sejny is an experience that sometimes leads further and influences choices and becomes a path of life. Today, Sejny musicians supply the Warsaw music scene, play in the most interesting formations, create their own musical initiatives. Meetings with Mikołaj Trzaska and Raphael Rogiński, eminent young generation musicians seeking inspiration in Jewish music, who in recent years visited the "Sejny Jazz Cooperative" (another long-term program run by Sejny musicians) resulted in a new sound of Jewish music in Sejny. Currently the band is composed of: Dominika Korzeniecka - drums, Mateusz Bartosiewicz - drums, Borys Pol - drums, Tadeusz Soroko - tuba, Michał Jachimowicz - tenor saxhorn, Stanisław Soroko - alto saxhorn, Mateusz Sznejkowski - slide trombone, Maciej Soroko - slide trombone, Patryk Masłowski - valve trombone, Dominik Sekura - trumpet, Kacper Szroeder - trumpet, Marcin Dąbrowski - trumpet, Michał Popiel - trumpet, Maciej Popiel - alto saxophone, clarinet, Paweł Jaczewski - alto saxophone, Maja Misiukanis - alto saxophone, Janek Glembocki alto, Mikołaj Pol - vibraphone, dulcimer, Michał Moniuszko - double bass, Wojciech Szroeder - accordion.
