Carmen French
Indigenous Australian singer. In1980 she had won the North Queensland Vocal talent quest , held in Rockhampton. Also that year she won the Aboriginal Female Vocal Championship in Melbourne, Victoria. In 1981 she was in Tamworth winning the national titles. In 1983 competing in the same event she she won every heat in the build up events, but missed out winning the title coming a close second. In 1983, her EP, [i]Carmen Goes Back[/i] was released on the Australian Crown Records label (see [l871740]). Produced by [a2916319], and recorded at [l283860], the EP featured four songs she had selected, "Sad Movies", "South of the Border", "Chattanoogie Shoe Shine Boy" and "Wayward Wind".
