Classical double bass player, and author (1932-2023). Former member of the [a=London Symphony Orchestra] (1959-1960). His many achievements included simultaneously being a member of the [a=Philharmonia Orchestra] and the [a=London Philharmonic Orchestra]. Former chairman of the Philharmonia Orchestra; after he retired from being chairman, he stayed in the orchestra.
