Choir from Asturias, Spain. The group stands out for its versatility in terms of programs and has a variable geometry template, which allows them to offer all kinds of concerts with a wide repertoire ranging from Renaissance and Baroque masters to the most avant-garde works. LDO has offered a cappella music at prominent Spanish festivals, various European countries, the United States of America and Africa, and it also maintains a continuous collaboration with important Spanish orchestras, with which it has carried out works such as Bach´s Magnificat and the Passions according to San Juan and San Mateo, the Requiem by G. Fauré, the Requiem by W.A. Mozart, the Ninth Symphony by L.V. Beethoven, The Childhood of Christ by H. Berlioz or Daphnis and Cloe by M. Ravel, among others. The choir has been invited to the “Musika-Music” Festival, Religious Music Week of Cuenca, with a concert on its own and another together with The Tallis Scholars under the conduction of Peter Phillips, Logroño Ancient Music Festival, Ancient Music Festival of Aranjuez, International Festival «Sacred Art» in Madrid, «Bilbao Arte Sacro», two concerts in coproduction with the National Center of Musical Diffusion in Oviedo and León and the interpretation of the Coronation Mass of W.A. Mozart with the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, conducted by Leopold Hager. Its greatest worldwide recognition was obtained in 2014 at the “London International a Cappella Choir Competition”, where the LDO won the first prize. The Grand National Prize of Choral Singing (2003 and 2006) also stands out, as well as the Grand Prize «Cittá de Arezzo», International Choir Contest of Flanders, International Competition of Tolosa and the International May Choir Competition of Varna (Bulgaria). In 2019 the CD “Amarae Morti” was released, with the English label “Hyperion Records” with music by great Renaissance masters. This recording has been conducted by Peter Phillips, honorary conductor of LDO since November 2017. In terms of education, since 2017 the LDO organizes the Masterclass of Choir Conduction, with the presence of prestigious conductors and students from different parts of the world. This training activity is directly linked to the intention of providing a service to the choral environment.
