Cork singer / songwriter Don Murphy was a part of the music scene in Cork, Ireland for many years and was well known in the Cork area. He played solo and in various bands from rock, folk and jazz before going back to his favourite folk, ballads and trad when he founded the Cork trad band Natural Gas with his close friends Diarmuid Grainger and [a175931]. He was a multi-instrumentalist, playing his first instrument guitar and tenor banjo, fiddle, mandolin, g-banjo. He was also a very accomplished classical guitarist and an electric lead guitarist. Father of [a3011192]. He died in a car accident in 2011 at the age of 56.
