Påhl Olle

Swedish folk fiddler from Östbjörka, Rättvik parish, Dalarna, born 4 August 1915 in Rättvik, died there 27 September 1987. He was known for his clean, distinct tone and ability to improvise second parts. He was a painter by profession and commuted weekly to work in Stockholm. He toured with, among others, Jan Johansson, Hans Leygraf, Sven-Bertil Taube and Grynet Molvig, and played together with Päkkos Gustaf on some songs with the pop group Tages. At the Bingsjöstämman, the award "Påhl Olles fiol" is awarded each year to a deserving young fiddler. The award means, in addition to the honor, getting access to playing Påhl Olle's violin for 1 year.
