Lois Svard

American avant-garde pianist. She started playing piano at the age of 5 and received her D.M.A. in piano performance from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. For nearly 30 years, Svard was Professor of Music Emerita at Bucknell University. She is also interested in neuroscience and its application to music. Works by Robert Ashley, William Duckworth, David First, Andrew Frank, Kyle Gann, Jackson Hill, Jerry Hunt, Elodie Lauten, Annea Lockwood, Alvin Lucier, Kirk Nurock, Stephen Scott, and "Blue" Gene Tyranny have been written for her.
