Donald Buchla

Donald aka Don Buchla (born April 17, 1937, South Gate, California, USA - died September 14, 2016, Berkeley, California, USA) was an American pioneer in the field of sound synthesizers. The inventor of the Buchla modular synthesizer which was used by [a=Ken Kesey], [a=Morton Subotnick], [a=Allen Strange] and many others. He was one of the first to design voltage controlled synthesizers, doing so independently and at the same time as his east coast counterpart [a=Robert Moog]. Primarily an engineer, he occasionally made music himself, such as in [a244703].
