P-Bass Expressway

P-Bass Expressway was formed in 1999 by Nava Thomas (Confucius) and Ariel White as a studio project producing funk. In 2000 P-Bass became a live 5 piece act with Simon Kay, Kurt Dyer and Dan Collins joining the band. P-Bass Expressway demos performed well on the NZ Alternative Chart in 2003 and received high rotation on b-net stations throughout NZ. In Dec 2003 the debut album 'Express Funk' was released on Christchurch funk/dance label Heavyweight Soul Productions. P-Bass followed up the release in Feb 2004 with a NZ promotional tour which was a huge success. The album is distributed through Auckland distributor Rhythmethod and has continued to sell well in commercial retail stores. Five tracks from the album have recently been playlisted on America's #1 jazz/funk/smooth groove show The Groove Boutique along with Nathan Haines, One Million Dollars, Fat Freddy's Drop and Twinset. The Groove Boutique is among the top five most listened to radio shows in New York City on a Saturday night.
