Jerker Johansson

Swedish conductor and art leader of Göteborg Wind Orchestra, formerly known as Göteborgmusiken. He has studied percussion, composition and conducting at the Academy of Music in Gothenburg and was employed as a percussionist in Spårvägens Musikkår in 1988. In 1992-2003 he was chief conductor and artistic director of GöteborgsMusiken and in 2013-2016 held the same position for Gothenburg Wind Orchestra. In 1996 he was the first to be awarded the William Lind scholarship, in 1999 the City of Gothenburg's cultural scholarship and in 2005 the City of Gothenburg's badge of merit. Over the years, Jerker has premiered many newly written works, both as a conductor and as a percussionist. Within percussion, he is mainly interested in pitch-determined instruments such as marimba, xylophone and vibraphone. To relax, he spends quite a lot of time practicing the piano.
