Edward Walker

British classical flutist, and flute teacher. Born in 1909 - Died in 1982. He studied with his father, [a=Gordon Walker (3)]. He joined the [a=London Symphony Orchestra] in 1937, when his father was Principal Flute, and became the orchestra's Principal Flute himself in 1946. In 1955, he left the LSO to become 2nd Flute in the [a=Philharmonia Orchestra], at the same time playing first flute in [a=The Sinfonia Of London], founded by his father to record film music. He taught at the [l290263]. Eddie Walker's son, Tony, who died in 2011, was a member of the [a=BBC Northern Symphony Orchestra] (later known as [a=BBC Philharmonic]).
