Ruben Silva

Ruben Silva Polish conductor of Bolivian origin, born in the capital city of his country – La Paz. He studied at the Music Conservatory as well at the Catholic University in his home town. In 1975 he became a conductor of the Conservatory Orchestra and founded a Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 1978 Ruben Silva was granted a scholarship by the Polish Government for studying conducting at the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. During his 5 years at the Academy he worked with a famous Polish conductor, Stanislaw Wislocki. In 1983 he was a prizewinner in the Third International G. Fitelberg Competition in Katowice. He was also classified among the finalists of the International RTV Competition in Budapest the same year.
