Takaaki Masuko

Percussionist Takaaki 'Taki’ Masuko left Japan in 1979 to escape playing freelance orchestral triangle by studying improvisation and global folk music at NEC. Based in Boston and lauded internationally as a performer, dance accompanist, studio teacher, and music & movement clinician, Masuko is known for twisting time and blending the old and borrowed with the bold and new. His passion for banging on anything metal has fueled his forty+ years of recordings, live performances, solo work and collaborations with artists including [a=The HorseFlies], [a=David Byrne] and [a=Les Misérables Brass Band], [a=Satoko Fujii] + [a=Natsuki Tamura], [a=Sabana Blanca], the [a=Zamir Chorale of Boston], and [a=Telltale Crossing], among others.
