Toto Torquati

Antonio Torquati, known as Toto Torquati (Rome, January 1, 1942 – Rome, June 7, 2023), was an Italian pianist, keyboardist and arranger. Blind since birth, in 1947 he entered the institute for the blind Sant'Alessio in Rome. In 1962 he entered the [a1480409] then graduated in 1967 at the Conservatory of San Pietro in Majella (Naples). Often he plays at the Piper Club in Rome where he knows Giampiero Scalamogna who makes him join his group [a292657] as keyboard player. He starts the session man activity at the RCA Italiana and the record companies connected to it by forming a group with [a558677] on drums, [a558671] on bass and [a586775] on guitar and publishes some solo albums. In 1981 opens in Rome [l409448], a recording room. After a period of departure from the music scene, in early 2002 Torquati resumed playing.
