Harry Mo

Harry Mo - Biography Harry Mo's musical journey began in his youthful days at elementary school in Dominica, where singing was a daily part of the curriculum, and also at church, as a choir member where he got his first lessons in singing and playing the organ. Shortly after graduating high school in 1984, Harry Mo gained employment as an elementary school teacher and a few years later he migrated to the US Virgin Islands where later enlisted in the US Army and moved to the United States. After a year in Germany he was transferred to Colorado Springs, CO where the opportunity to play live music again, suddenly opened when he met and joined local reggae band B-Positive. Shortly after Mo formed his band "Mountain Reggae" which became one of the top reggae bands in the Rocky Mountain region in the late 90's. Harry Mo later joined roots rock reggae band "Boom Shaka" based in Los Angeles and toured throughout the US and worldwide to faraway locales like Brazil, Hong Kong and Ethiopia. In 2004, soon after releasing his first album Runaway Slave in Los Angeles, Harry Mo moved back to the US Virgin Islands and has since released three stellar solo albums, "Back to Africa in 2008, his 2012 multiple hits cd On My Way and Roots & Lovers his best work so far. He completed his third European tour in the summer of 2014 with performances in Holland, Germany, Belgium and France. His fourth album Roots & Lovers was released on Nov 2nd, 2014. It is excellent and top notch roots reggae album which shows much growth and maturity of this humble artist. The song writing and lyrics are very poetic and compliments the awesome roots reggae instrumentation perfectly. Roots & Lovers confirm that Harry Mo is well on his way. As a solo artist, Harry Mo is a charismatic performer entertaining crowds with his high caliber, crystal clear and soulful singing. He performs with or without his guitar and has a real captivating energy that lures you in. You will love Harry Mo's music recorded or live show. BACK TO AFRICA - Album Review. Music from the other islands (besides Jamaica) has reinvigorated Reggae and particularly Rasta and Roots music over the past few years and "Back to Africa" (Yellow Hill Music, 2008) by Harry Mo is an excellent example of why. Mo easily incorporates existing approaches to Reggae - some of which have existed for over thirty years now - into a style all of his own, rooted in the ckassics while bringing something new to the table. He hails from Dominica and worked for many years with Boom Shaka in LA (they assisted in the recording of his first release, "Runaway Slave", which is also well worth checking out). My Dream, Rugged Road, Enough is enough and St Croix Rock are among the standout tracks on the new release. Chuck Foster, The BEAT Magazine
