Jimmy McCulloch

Scottish rock guitarist. Born 4 June 1953 in Dumbarton, Scotland, UK - Died 27 September 1979 in Maida Vale, London, England, UK. Best known for playing lead guitar and bass, as a member of [a=Paul McCartney]'s band [a=Wings (2)] from 1974 to 1977. [b]Not to be confused with the Canadian rock guitarist [a=James McCulloch][/b]. He made his performance debut as the guitarist for the Glasgow psychedelic band [b]Jaygars[/b] who, later, became known as [a=One In A Million]. Aged 13, he moved with his family to London, England. In April 1967, he played lead guitar for the [b]Utterly Incredible[/b], [b]Too Long Ago to Remember[/b], [b]Sometimes Shouting at People[/b] during the 14-Hour Technicolour Dream event. That year, he played guitar for One In A Million which performed live at various London venues. He was a founder member of [a=Thunderclap Newman] in 1969. From January to mid-April 1971, the band toured England, Scotland, Holland, and Scandinavia and disbanded shortly thereafter. In October 1971, he played guitar in concert with [a=John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers] in England, Scotland and Germany. On 31 October 1971, McCulloch's band [a=Bent Frame] made its performance debut in London. The band subsequently renamed itself the [b]Jimmy McCulloch Band[/b] and toured England and Scotland. In June 1972, he joined the blues rock band [a=Stone The Crows]; they disbanded in June 1973. He joined Wings in August 1974. During his time with Wings, he formed the band [a=Jimmy McCulloch & White Line]. In September 1977, he left Wings to join the reformed [a=Small Faces]. In early 1978, he started a band called [a=Wild Horses] but he left the band soon afterward. He then joined [a=The Dukes (4)] in 1979. McCulloch also made appearances on many albums, including [a=John Entwistle]'s "[m=56282]" in 1972, as lead guitarist playing alongside [a=Peter Frampton] on "Apron Strings" and "I Feel Better". McCulloch also played guitar on [a=Roger Daltrey]'s album "[m=90411]". His was brother of drummer [a=Jack McCulloch].
