David Crooks

Jamaican deejay and singer born 1948 in Kingston. He started his singing career in the group Two Tones with his two friends Brenton Matthews and Fathead. Barker then sang for a short while with [a=The Techniques] alongside [a=Winston Riley] and [a=Bruce Ruffin] before forming the duo [a=Glen & Dave] together with [a=Glen Brown]. In 1969 he went solo for the producer [a=Lee Perry] and had major success. In 1971 Dave teamed up with keyboard player [a=Ansel Collins] making the duo [a=Dave & Ansel Collins] before leaving for UK where he recorded with soul and funk groups.
