English tenor saxophonist, born 26th November 1939, Manchester, England. After moving to London, Themen worked with blues artists [a=Jack Bruce] (from 1962) and [a=Alexis Korner] (1963). Later performed with rock singers [a=Rod Stewart] and [a=Joe Cocker]. In 1974 he began an association with [a=Stan Tracey], touring extensively and recording with him.
