Leonard Bernstein

Born: August 25, 1918 (Lawrence, Massachusetts, United States). Died: October 14, 1990 (The Dakota, New York City, NY, United States). American composer, conductor, pianist, author and music lecturer. Most famous for his time as music director with the [a=New York Philharmonic] (the first American-born conductor to lead a major American symphony orchestra) and his works such as "West Side Story" and "On The Town". Inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971. He married actress [a=Felicia Montealegre] on September 10, 1951, with whom they had three children, [a=Jamie Bernstein], [a532277] and [a532275].
