The Paragons

Jamaican vocal group, mostly known for rocksteady tracks. The Paragons were originally [a=Bob Andy] ([a713535]), [a=Garth Evans] (aka [a=Tyrone Evans]), [a=Junior Menz], and Leroy Stamp, and went by the name The Binders. In 1964 Stamp was replaced by [a=John Holt], and [a=Howard Barrett] replaced Menz, and the name was changed to The Paragons. [a=Bob Andy] left the group in late 1965, and The Paragons continued as a trio. After John Holt left to pursue a solo career, the group sung with [a883436] and then [a=Vic Taylor] took Holt's place. This new trio recorded 3 albums. The classic line-up of Holt/Barrett/Evans reformed in early 1980's following the success of [a=Blondie]'s cover of their song "The Tide Is High" but Holt left again after the release of [m=480948] recorded with [a5064].

Members: John Holt, Vic Taylor, Howard Barrett, Keith Anderson (4), Junior Menz, and Garth Evans
