Wolfgang Laufer

Cellist born in Romania and died in Milwaukee (2011). He was cellist of the Israel Chamber Orchestra, in the Malmo Symphony Orchestra (Sweden), and played in the Hamburg Philharmonic and State Opera (Germany). After he moved to USA, he was just the second cellist of the Fine Arts Quartet (founded in Chicago in 1946). The quartet had long been in residence at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee when Laufer replaced founding cellist George Sopkin.
