Catherine Comet

Born in Fontainebleau, France 1945 Catherine Comet (pronounced ko-MAY) conductor Began her studies with Nadia Boulanger at the Paris Conservatory. Moved to New York and studied with the conductor Jean Morel at the Juilliard School. Returned to Europe and took a conducting course in Basel with Pierre Boulez. Assistant to Pierre Boulez with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. 1978-1981 post conducting the University of Wisconsin, Madison symphony orchestra. 1981 assistant at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. 1984-1986 similar post at the Baltimore Symphony. 1986 to 1997 music director of the Grand Rapids Symphony in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
