Specimen A

Specimen A are producers and brothers Phil and Morris Jones alongside DJ Dan Smart, creators of heavy fuelled breaks, dubstep, drum & bass and everything in between. The Jones brothers have music in their blood; born into a family of musicians and nephews of the legendary [a=Howard Jones] they were raised on a broad diet of inspiring music from classical to rave. After making drum & bass for a few years, they started making breaks in 2006, collaborating with then up & coming producers Far Too Loud. Their early releases "Headcase", "Contamination" & "Soldiers At War" won them mass praise & support across the scene. After signing with [l=Funkatech Records] they continued to craft their distinctive sound on follow up singles "Exodus", "Dirty Disco" and "Freak In Us feat. Miss Trouble" winning a devoted fanbase, international bookings and proving themselves skillful performers and versatile song writers. In 2008 they released their "Hazardous Material" series on Funkatech pushing their sound into new territories and winning themselves a nomination for Breakthrough Producer at the 2009 Breakspoll Awards at Fabric where they finally took to the stage with their first ever live show performing in front of a full house of frenzied ravers. The rest of 2009 went from strength to strength; tearing up the first Breakspoll Festival in Spain, remixing Dylan Rhymes and Deekline for high profile labels Lot49 and Against The Grain as well as guest mixes on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM. Specimen A have big plans to broaden their sound in 2010 roaming deep into dubstep territory for the very first time with upcoming releases "Jaguar Paw", "Chasing Shadows" and their huge re-rub of Foreigner's 80's classic "Cold As Ice" heavily supported by Radio 1's Mista Jam. Look out also for their new collaborative project with rapper Bobby Whiskers fusing electronic melodies and lyrical flow; the soon to be massive hip-pop supergroup "Where's Huey?" You'll be hearing a lot more from Specimen A, and you'll be liking it!
