Jazz, soul, disco singer Born on 02.01.1929 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, U.S.A. Died on 21.06.1997 in Hamilton, Bermuda. Brother of tenor sax player [a=Red Prysock]. Best known for his live shows and his baritone influenced by [a=Billy Eckstine]. Between 1944 - 1950 he was the main singer of [a=Buddy Johnson]'s band. From 1952 he started a successful recording career for [l5320]. In 1965 he recorded for [l5041], his collaboration with [a=Count Basie]. In the 70's, he had several disco hits, produced by [a=John Davis (5)].
