Glen Ricks

Glen Ricks got his start as a member of [a386564], who saw him dancing when they toured Canada in 1968. Impressed with his stagecraft, the group soon found that Glen, who had gone to Canada from Jamaica as a child, had musical talent in abundance. Glen joined the group, which also featured [a443879] and [a2821949] and they recorded the massive Jamaican hit "[m=403932]" for producer [a367104] in 1969. When the group split in the seventies, each member pursued a solo career. Glen returned to Canada, where he had a successful career as a singer, gaining a contract with [l138683] when he caught the attention of [a589838] of the [a168907] group. He also spent time in soul centers like Chicago and Philadelphia, and cut a beautiful R&B album [m=626510], featuring a superb rendition of the [a83396]/[a391058] hit. Late in the eighties he returned to Jamaica, establishing himself as an in demand singer with leading producers like [a115766], [a277488], [a253446] and [a393010].
