Keith Tippett

British composer, pianist and educator. Born: 25th August 1947 Bristol, England. Died: 14th June 2020 London, England. Known for embracing jazz in both the composed/arranged big-group tradition, and smaller improvisational groups, as well as venturing into solo piano performances/recordings later in his career. Was leader/co-leader of many groups including [a=Ovary Lodge], [a=Centipede (3)], [a=Mujician] and others. He has played and recorded with various members of [a=Soft Machine] and [a=Chris McGregor's Brotherhood Of Breath] among other groups. He also played on the second, third and fourth [a=King Crimson] albums (1970-71). Married [a=Julie Driscoll] in 1970 and made several duet and other formation recordings with her.
