Ikuma Dan

Ikuma Dan (1924–2001) was a Japanese composer. During his career Ikuma completed six symphonies, all recorded and released on the [l=Decca] label in Japan. He graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1946, studying with [a=Kosaku Yamada] among others. One of his best known works is a 1951 opera [i]Yūzuru[/i] (Twilight Crane). In 1997, Ikuma Dan wrote [i]Takeru[/i] opera for the opening of New National Theatre in Tokyo, Japan's main opera house.
