Colonial Club Orchestra

Studio orchestra on Brunswick from 1926 to 1931. The Brunswick company files show that the first (and longest serving) director of the group was Louis Katzman (1926-1928), and later recordings were were made under the direction of various people including Bob Haring (1929), Louis Katzman (1930) and Victor Young (1931). It is not a general pseudonym for [a=Bob Haring & His Orchestra] as has been claimed in some published sources including those by Brian Rust. This misconception seems to have arisen because a very small number of records by the Colonial Club Orchestra do come from sessions directed by Bob Haring, but the vast majority of Colonial Club Orchestra records have no connection with Bob Haring whatsoever.
