Ina Ray Hutton

American bandleader and singer. She was married to jazz trumpeter [a1508481]. Born: on March 13, 1916 in Chicago Died: February 19, 1984 (age of 67) in Ventura, California. Half-sister of singer [a299960]. Hutton first led an all-female band, [a2625469], who made their first recordings in 1934 and disbanded in 1939. In the 1940s she led an all-male band [a3719400]. Her nickname was "The Blonde Bombshell of Rhythm" and her shows would feature hot swing music and Ina Ray's hot dancing in sexy gowns. Her final recordings were made in 1944. From 1951-1956 her new all-female band had a show on regional TV, with a brief national network run in 1956 called The Ina Ray Hutton Show. Hutton continued as a singer and bandleader through the 1960s and retired from music in 1968.
