Marvin Holmes

American guitarist, songwriter, producer, and label owner from Oakland, California. Considered to be one of the founding fathers of Oakland funk. Active from the early 1960s until has passing on the 11th January 2022. [a395385] emerged as the Oakland Bay Area’s hottest soul band in the early 60’s and 70’s. “[r=1051864]” became a national hit, which led to the group signing with [l33520]. Marvin wrote songs that were recorded by the [a185663], [a278196] and [a60632]. In 1969, Marvin decided it was time to make a change in his music and formed [a1378885], as well as [a4037133]. He then founded the label [l142349]. In the 80’s Holmes released [m=797578], re-signed with [l878] and recorded "[r=7271724]”. Later, he signed with [a394107]’ record company, [l27733], contributing guitar to albums by rap artist [a51352].
