Olov Olofsson

Swedish composer and pianist, born in 1947. He studied piano for [a6384465] and [a6519042], who was his teacher in the soloist piano education at KMH. He also underwent organ training, with [a832657] and [a1751780] as teachers. For a long time he has also been a professor of study at KMH and worked with interpretation with singers and pianists. As a composer, he is either self-taught or subject to many years of study for a difficult number of teachers, from Machaut onwards. During the 1970s he wrote music for choir and the jazz group he had with the saxophonist [a296011]. They also released an LP with [a856071], "Dagen skimrar i gräset". After that, there was a long pause in composing until the mid-1990s. Vocal music has had the completely dominant role in his music creation. In 2003, he received an order for the oratorio "700 dagar" from Högalid's parish. His chamber opera on December 7, 1941 won both the jury's and the audience's first prize in the competition that Opera Studio 67 announced in connection with its 40th anniversary in 2007. The Opera Studio then commissioned the opera Bridgend Blues, which was performed in 2009.
