Rolf Quinque

German trumpeter, born 20 June 1927 in Brehna, Germany. He received his musical education at the Leipzig Music Academy. His most important orchestral posts have been with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic. A much sought after Bach trumpeter since his student days, he has toured extensively as soloist in baroque, classical and contempory trumpet works with great success. Frequent appearances at such significant music festivals as those in Vienna, Bregenz, Salzburg, Berlin and performances and records, many of them featuring world premieres of modern trumpet concerti, have further helped to make Mr. Quinque's name known throughout the music world. In order to devote himself completely to his solo work, Rolf Quinque resigned his post as solo trumpeter of the Munich Philharmonic and accepted a call to teach at that city's Richard Strauss Conservatory.
