Charlton Heston

American actor, born 4 October 1923 in Evanston, Illinois; USA, died 5 April 2008 in Beverly Hills, California, USA. He majored in speech at Northwestern University in Chicago. In 1944 he married the actress Lydia Clarke. After his discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1947 he and his wife became co-directors and performers in the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Theatre in Asheville, N.C. Then on Broadway, he appeared in "The Leaf And The Bough," performed several different roles in Katharine Cornell's production of "Anthony And Cleopatra," and played opposite Martha Scott in "Design For A Stained Glass Window." He also appeared in television shows "Of Human Bondage" and "Wuthering Heights." In Hollywood he starred in eighteen pictures including "The Greatest Show On Earth", "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben Hur." His son Fraser was born February 12, 1955.
