Burgher Jones

Jazz bassist, born February 17, 1924 in Hope, Arkansas, died 2000. Burgher "Buddy" Jones, whose career as a professional musician spanned six decades, played with [a=Charlie Ventura] (1947) and [a=Joe Venuti] (1949), [a=Buddy DeFranco] (1951), [a=Lennie Tristano], [a=Stan Getz], and [a=Charlie Parker], a close friend. He played on Jack Sterling's CBS radio program 1952-1964. After playing on TV in Hollywood for some time, he returned to New York, working with [a=Bobby Hackett], [a=Al Cohn], and [a=Bill Watrous].
