Shut Up (3)

Czech pop-rock group, focused on the “bubble-gum” sound. Founded in Prague by drummer and lyricist [a772128] in 1968 as one of the Semafor Theatre backing groups (along with the [a1060969], and replacing [a1470145]). Involuntarily renamed to [a1225810] in 1972. Besides regular gigs as a part of the theatre’s musical plays and comedy shows by [a1519998] & [a977712], they were backing songs by standalone singers like [a977719] or [a1477521]. Shut Up also released numerous 7-inch records on their own, with changing lead vocalists like [a861777], [a1241041], [a461222], [a969067] or [a1360771]. [i][b]Notes: [/b] • After 1972 and until 1989, reissues of original Shut Up recordings were usually credited to [a1225810] due to censorship. • Sometimes the group was also credited as [b]“Orchestr divadla Semafor” (2)[/b], same name as [a1518566] (alias [a1060969]). To tell both groups apart, watch out for the credited conductor/leader: [a1282539] (1) vs. [a772128] (2). [/i]

Members: Jiří Korn, František Ringo Čech, Jiří Helekal, Petr Rezek, Svatopluk Čech, Bohdan Mikolášek, Zdeněk Merta, Jan Reiner, and Jiří Kaleš
