Sir Nigel Hawthorne CBE (born April 5, 1929, Coventry, Warwickshire, England – died December 26, 2001, Radwell, Hertfordshire, England) was an English actor. He portrayed "Sir Humphrey Appleby" in the 1980's TV sitcom "Yes Minister" and in its sequel, "Yes, Prime Minister".
