Johann Gottlieb Graun
German composer and violinist, born 27 October 1703, died 28 October 1771. He studied with [a1099136] in Dresden and [a837881] in Padua. Appointed Konzertmeister in Merseburg in 1726, he taught the violin to J.S. Bach's son [a891601]. He joined the court of the Prussian crown prince (the future [a567752]) in 1732 and was made Konzertmeister of the Berlin Opera in 1740. Elder brother of [a886374].
