João Callado

Brazilian cavaquinho player, songwriter, arranger and producer. He started studying music at the age of nine, in a guitar class; And had, as a child, the first notions of musical theory with his father, the intrumentist Marcio Pereira. From a very young age, he aroused a great interest in music and drawing, stimulated by the familiar atmosphere in which, besides the father, who was a musician, his mother Tessy Callado, a Brazilian actress, and his grandfather, the Brazilian writer Antônio Callado. He graduated in Painting from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1997. He began to work as a musician before graduating, furthering his musical studies soon after. He studied guitar with Dino Sete Cordas; Cavaquinho with Wanderson Martins, Jayme Vignolli, Mauro Diniz, Márcio Almeida and Henrique Cazes; Musical theory and composition with Bia Paes Leme, Márcio Pereira, Ivan Carlos Fonseca and Caio Senna. As a painter, he participated in collective and solo exhibitions: Collective at Sesc de Copacabana, in 1999; Collective at Centro Cultural Carioca, in 2004; - Individual at Centro Cultural Carioca and Carioca da Gema, in 2006; Collective at Chopperia Brazooka, in 2008.
