Honorat Cotteli

Swiss-slovak violinist, concertmaster and composer, born January 4, 1941 in Banská Bystrica, Slovak Republic; died February 2, 2014 in Baden, Switzerland. Cotelli started to study violin in the age of 14 in the conservatories of Brno and Bratislava. After graduation, he worked for the Czechoslovak broadcast society [a7181249] and he became a member of the [a1330365]. 1964 he becaame concertmaster at the opera of Banská Bystrica. In 1967, he moved to Switzerland and became violinist and concertmaster of the orchestra of the [l1555575] and had his own chamber quartet, the Cotelli-Quartett. Later, he joined the [a4140455] and the [a2385834]. Starting from 1976, he became teacher of the violin class of the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. In the 1980's, he started to focus his work on composing own pieces. Until 2013, he composed dozens of pieces for strings, orchestra and chamber ensembles.
