Kenny Ken

Major UK jungle/D&B deejay from Bethal Green, London. Kenny Ken started DJing in 1989, inspired by the early warehouse parties. He was taught to mix by Dean from [a=Dem 2], who were relatively big DJs at the time. During the day he worked as a ticket collector on the London Underground. His first rave DJing experience came at Genesis in 1989 after Lenny Dee failed to show. After meeting Sue Barnes from the Labrynth rave organisation at a party he started DJing at their parties on a weekly basis. He also played on pirate radio stations Centreforce FM and Dance FM. His first big break came as a result of him being a regular attendee at an early Sunday morning rave called Crazy Larry's. The organisers (Carl & Dave) also promoted the Crazy Club at Busby's, and Kenny became resident DJ alongside [a=Ray Keith] & [a=Jumping Jack Frost]. He then became resident at Sunday Roast and A.W.O.L. during which time he started producing his own tunes. His record labels include [l=Mix & Blen'] & Planet Funk Recordings (co-owned with DJ [a=Mace]), and he has also DJed for Radio 1 (One In The Jungle) and had his own show on Kiss FM. His Step-son is D'n'B DJ and Producer, [a=Crissy Criss].
