DJ Кефир

Beginning his career in 1994 the legendary DJ Kefir is known as the godfather of the Russian dance music scene. His unique techniques, dynamic performances, and deep dance-floor knowledge make him one of Russia's most sort-after DJs, with a jam packed schedule of club dates, festivals, and radio work. Originally a hip hop DJ, Kefir won the Russian DMC scratch competition in 1998, and he's been ranked 6th in Russia's top 100 DJs. After growing disillusioned with the direction of modern hip hop, Kefir made the change to the euphoric and uplifting sounds of house music, and his career really began to take off seriously. Always an innovator with an ear for new sounds, Kefir was the first DJ to introduce the now fashionable "quick mix" technique in Russia, and this openness to cutting edge sounds and ideas flavors his constantly evolving performances as well as his production work. No stranger to big club events, fashion shows, and huge festivals, Kefir has appeared at massive events such as "Flash", "Oriental Beat", "DJ Parade", "Sensation White in St Petersburg", "Kazanztip" and "Record Club", experiencing the thrill of performing for 50,000 people. He has shared the stage with dance music icons such as Moby, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta and Paul Van Dyk, and is well respected by the international DJ community. One of his original productions was featured in the Russian film "Peter FM", and his bootleg remix of "Barbara Streisand" got the nod of approval from A Trak himself. Rapidly becoming in demand as an international performer, Kefir has played in Germany, Finland, and more recently in Japan, where he toured in the summer of 2011, rocking enthusiastic crowds at Nagoya's iD Cafe and Tokyo's Zushi beach festival. He returned to Japan in 2012 to play at Tokyo's Fbar and Nagoya's iD Cafe, Vio, and Club About, as well as fitting in a live show on Nagoya's ZIP FM hosted by DJ Meguru. Ever since, Kefir has been back in Japan at least once a year to bring in some energy and inspiration. His ability to connect with a crowd during his adrenaline fuelled sets make him an outstanding performer. His regular Monday night show on Russia`s number one dance station Radio Record, from 2am to 3am, explores cutting edge house flavored dance music, and can also be heard on the Internet. With future productions involving collaborations with top class vocalists, DJ Kefir is on a musical mission.
