Salomone Rossi

Italian Jewish violinist and composer (c. 1570-1630). He was a transitional figure between the late Italian Renaissance period and early Baroque. Rossi served at the court of Mantua, from 1587 to 1628 where he entertained the royal family, providing fashionable music for banquets, wedding feasts, theatre productions and chapel services amongst others. Also called Salamone Rossi. In Hebrew: סלומונה רוסי or שלמה מן האדומים‎v (Salamon, Schlomo; de' Rossi).
