Paul Spicer

English composer, conductor, organist and recording producer (born 1952 in Bowdon, Greater Manchester). A former chorister at New College, Oxford, he attended the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with the composer [a568547] and the organist [a2165820]. He taught music at Uppingham School and Ellesmere College from 1974 until 1984, and was then Senior Producer for BBC Radio 3 in the Midlands until 1990. From 1990 to 2001, he was Artistic Director of The Lichfield Festival. From 1995 to 2008 he taught at the Royal College of Music and he now teaches choral conducting at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He founded the Finzi Singers in 1987 and has conducted the group until it ceased to work in 2000. He is also conductor of the Birmingham Bach Choir since 1992, of the Whitehall Choir since September 2000 and of the Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir.
